JHF FUTURE STARS

DEVELOP. BUILD CONFIDENCE. ENJOY FOOTBALL.

Football Development for Children Aged 5–8 | Newcastle upon Tyne

Helping Young Players Develop, Learn and Enjoy Football

JHF Future Stars is a football and athletic development programme designed for children aged 5–8 who want to develop their football skills, improve their physical abilities and build confidence in a fun, structured and supportive environment.

Delivered by JHFitness, Future Stars provides young players with the opportunity to establish strong foundations in football while developing important physical, social and personal skills that will benefit them both on and off the pitch.

Whether your child is completely new to football or already enjoys playing the game, our sessions are designed to help them learn, improve and reach their potential at their own pace.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to develop, regardless of their starting ability. Our aim is to create an environment where children feel comfortable trying new things, challenging themselves, making mistakes and celebrating their progress.

At JHF Future Stars, we focus on developing the individual, not just the footballer.

WHAT WILL YOUR CHILD DEVELOP?

Our sessions combine fundamental football coaching with age-appropriate physical development activities. We focus on establishing the foundations that will support children as they progress through their sporting journey.

FOOTBALL TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT

Children will have opportunities to develop the fundamental football skills needed to become more comfortable and confident with the ball, including:

  • Ball control and first touch.

  • Dribbling and close ball control.

  • Passing and receiving.

  • Shooting and finishing.

  • Turning and changing direction.

  • Coordination with the ball.

ATHLETIC AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

Developing physical abilities from an early age can help children become more confident, coordinated and physically capable.

Sessions incorporate activities focusing on:

  • Balance and body control.

  • Agility and coordination.

  • Acceleration and movement.

  • Jumping and landing.

  • Fundamental movement patterns.

  • Reaction and movement challenges.

PERSONAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Football provides a fantastic opportunity for children to develop qualities that extend beyond the pitch.

Throughout our sessions, children are encouraged to develop:

  • Confidence and self-belief.

  • Communication and teamwork.

  • Listening and following instructions.

  • Discipline and respect.

  • Resilience and positive attitudes.

  • Independence and decision-making.

These qualities are just as important as the football skills they develop.

HOW DO SESSIONS WORK?

JHF Future Stars sessions take place in our dedicated indoor turf training area at JHFitness in Byker, Newcastle.

Each session lasts 45 minutes and is delivered in a small-group environment, with a maximum of eight children per session.

Keeping group numbers small allows us to provide more individual attention, offer feedback and ensure every child has opportunities to get involved.

Sessions include a mixture of:

  • Individual football skills and ball mastery.

  • Partner and small-group activities.

  • Technical challenges and competitions.

  • Movement and athletic development exercises.

  • Football-based games and activities.

We want children to enjoy their training while developing a genuine understanding of the game and becoming more confident in their abilities.

There is no expectation for children to arrive with previous football experience. Whether they are completely new to football or already attend grassroots training, everyone is encouraged to learn, participate and improve.

WHO IS JHF FUTURE STARS FOR?

JHF Future Stars is designed for boys and girls aged 5–8.

The programme is suitable for:

  • Children who are new to football and want to learn the basics.

  • Children who already play football and want additional development.

  • Young players looking to improve their confidence on the ball.

  • Children who enjoy being active, learning new skills and taking part in challenges.

  • Parents looking for structured football coaching in a positive environment.

Our priority is to make sure every child feels included, supported and encouraged, regardless of their starting ability.

THE PATHWAY TO JHF ACADEMY

JHF Future Stars is also an opportunity for children to begin their journey within the wider JHF football development pathway.

As children grow, develop and become more confident, they may have the opportunity to progress into JHF Academy, our next stage of football development for players aged 9 and above.

Future Stars focuses on establishing the foundations, while JHF Academy provides opportunities for players to continue developing their technical ability, football understanding, athletic performance and overall approach to the game.

We want to create a clear development journey where children can continue learning and progressing as they get older.

Progression is based on age, individual development and suitability for the next programme.

MEET YOUR COACH

JHF Future Stars is delivered by JJ, founder of JHFitness and former professional footballer.

Having spent over 10 years playing professional football, beginning his journey at Newcastle United, JJ understands the importance of developing strong foundations, good habits and confidence from an early age.

Through his professional playing experience and coaching work with young children, he aims to bring a positive, engaging and development-focused approach to every session.

The objective is simple: to give every child the opportunity to learn, improve and enjoy their football in an environment where they feel comfortable and supported.
